About Nel ...
Honored with awards from numerous juried shows in Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, San Francisco, Dallas, and more recently Colorado, Nel Markle has been exhibiting professionally for over 25 years. Her paintings hang in many private and public collections throughout the United States. A graduate of Fine Arts from San Francisco State University, Nel studied with many other outstanding artists. Among these are Robert E. Wood, Rex Brandt, Fred Samuelson, Joseph Mugniani, Leonard Brooks, Richard Yip, and Ann Gantz. Over the years, Nel Markle has developed a unique style of her own. Using pigment suspended in an oil based medium, she is able to achieve an unusual richness of color and texture on both paper and canvas. Her most recent works on paper exemplify her creativity, which ranges from nature inspired impressions to burst of abstract expressions of emotions in relation to the pure beauty of color, shape and motion. Many of her most recent works have taken the form of assemblages, collages, and three dimensional constructions using her handmade paper. Nel's works are in collections across the nation including the states of Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and California. Nel actively participates in cultural visual arts events and in juried exhibitions and consistently helps to promote and expand public awareness of the contributions of the arts. She currently divides her time between Colorado and Texas. |
